D.

APPOINTMENT OF INSTRUCTORS and TEACHER TRAINERS

1. The ESA Instrument Committees

See Appendix D1 Instrument Committees

a.

The appointment of new Teacher Trainers and Instructors will be overseen by the

ESA Instrument Committees

b.

The ESA Instrument Committees will consist of 3 - 5 Teacher Trainers who have been

elected by the ESA Teacher Trainers

c.

The term of office for ESA Instrument Committees is three years.

d.

In dealing with applications from Teachers of newer Instruments, the ESA Board of

Directors will consult ESA Teacher Trainers for those Instruments as appropriate.

e.

In addition to the specific responsibilities detailed below, the Instrument

Committees will serve as an Advisory Board to both the national Suzuki associations

and individual Teachers.

2. Steps to becoming a Teacher Trainer

a.

Candidate completes ESA Level 5, or equivalent in another Regional Association.

b.

Candidate applies to

the ESA Instrument Committee to become an Instructor.

The ESA must register the success or failure of each application and communicate

the outcome to the Candidate as well as the national Suzuki association for their

information.

c.

If approved, the candidate is then appointed as an Instructor by the ESA Board of

Directors.

d.

Instructor appointments are only valid when the ESA has sent a confirmation letter

to the Candidate, confirming that the requirements have been fulfilled.

e.

The Instructor spends a period of at least two years in which he/she -

i.observes and helps on ESA-recognised Teacher Training courses

ii. attends a minimum of two examinations, one of which is on the Instructor’s own

instrument

iii. gets experience from every possible source.

f.

After a training period of two to four years, the Instructor may apply to become a full

Teacher Trainer/Examiner.

To apply, the Instructor must present -

i.A formal letter of application

ii.A brief up-to-date Curriculum Vitae

iii.A brief account of the work undertaken during Instructor Training
