16 T he Wratislavia Cantans International Festival is one of the most important and most prestigious musical events in Poland. The programme of the 51st festival, titled “Europa Cantans” included important works by European composers, performed by the most exceptional artists. For the first time in the festival’s history, the musicians and the audience had an opportunity to experience the music in a world-class concert Hall the “National Forum of Music”, a space where the masterpieces sound with all their beauty. It was in this beautiful Hall that the Con- cert by the European Suzuki Orchestra was performed. A selection of European Suzuki Schools where invited to perform in the National Forum of Music, by the Artistic Director Giovanni Antonini. The concert with 200 young musicians and singers from many European nations was of particular significance in the year that Wrocław had been chosen to be the “European Capital of Culture”. This important European Festival seeks to instil in the younger generation the significance of strengthening ties within Europe, by promoting different cultures and languages, and by assigning to mu- sic its rightful role in representing all of them. The programme was chosen especially for strings and the childrens’ choir. The concert had a strong title: “Tone has the Living Soul” a well known Suzuki saying, comunicating the idea that “beautiful tone is connected deeply to a beautiful heart. “ The music stirred up deep emotions: its beauty, its simplicity and the innocence of the musicians touched the audience. The concert took place in the morning of the last day of the Festival, at 11 a.m. It was a concert performed by the young musicians who are the future of Europe. Thanks and congratulations go to all the children, the teachers, the Artistic Director Giovanni Antonini and the organising staff for their courage in putting on this Event in the Festival.
