Suzuki Music Pedagogical Association (HSMPA), received a grant from the Trust. Income from donations was again slightly lower than in previous years. The deficit for the year was less than budgeted at GBP 9,362. The Trust still benefits from the legacy from the late Jean Middlemiss, which makes deficit budgets possible for some time. It will be a necessity, however, to increase donations in the next few years, if the Trust is to stay at its current grant giving level. Teacher Training Projects in 2024-25 Ukraine The Ukrainian violin teacher training course directed by Anna Podhajska was the biggest project. A course which covered level 2 with a total of 12 participants started in October 2023 and ended with exams in October 2024 in Gdansk. A new online piano course for Ukrainian teachers directed by Reporting on the results for the year to 31 December 2024, with updates from 2025 30 Marzena Jasińska- Siudzińska started in May 2024, with 7 participants at levels 1, 3 and 4. A second teacher training course for Ukrainian piano teachers was started in October 2024 by Anna Sibley (UK and Poland). A grant of GBP 1,800 has been agreed to cover a shortfall in fees. The course was due to be completed in May 2025. A small grant of GBP 400 was given to a flute teacher trainee to join a Polish course directed by Anke van der Bijl. Ukrainian guitar teachers received a grant to join the Suzuki guitar teacher training course in Finland, run by the Finnish Suzuki Association in Finland and online. This course started in June 2024 and was due to be completed in March 2025. A grant was given to a Ukrainian voice teacher who did her training in Finland. to pursue its objects ‘to advance the education of the public, particularly children and young people, about all aspects of the teaching methods, philosophy and practices of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki in Europe and elsewhere.’ Teacher Training continued to be the central focus, and this is strongly reflected in the financial results. Projects for the Ukrainian Suzuki Association continued to dominate with a guitar course being added to the thriving violin and piano teacher training courses. Grants for flute and voice teacher training were also added. A new teacher training course for violin in Turkey began in January 2024 and was concluded with exams in October 2024.
