32 Reporting on the results for the year to 31 December 2023, with updates from 2024 D uring the year to 31 December 2023, the Trust continued its work to pursue its objects ‘to advance the education of the public, particularly children and young people, about all aspects of the teaching methods, philosophy and practices of Dr Shinichi Suzuki in Europe and elsewhere.’ Teacher Training continued to be the central focus, and this is strongly reflected in the financial results. The Ukrainian Teacher Training programme, which was the main project in 2022, continued to thrive despite the difficult situation. Following record donations from ESA, BSI and individual donors in 2022, the main income in the 2023 year of account came from the remainder of the very generous legacy from Jean Middlemiss, paid out when the estate was finally closed. We are also extremely grateful for the anonymous monthly donation of GBP40 per month and the income we receive from events such as the Viola Workshop, see below. Bank interest is now a much-improved source of revenue, yielding GBP 1,587. When further small amounts of income and expenditure are added, the overall deficit for the year, was GBP 1,940. Note: Additional Bank and administration costs were £75. Account Bank Charges were GBP 60 The Trust has budgeted for grants of GBP 17,800 for 2024. Notes: 1) Some of the donations above attracted bank charges and commission costs, amounting to £21 2) The Trust received additional Gift Aid (tax credit) income of GBP 125 3) Bank interest for the year was GBP 1,587 Teacher Training Projects in 2023-24 Ukraine The Violin Course directed by Anna Podhajska was again the course with the highest number of participants and examinations held.
