European Suzuki Association - Teachers Newsletter Vol 44 2024

33 Suzuki Teaching Trust European Suzuki Teaching Development Trust A charity registered in England (number 1092897) Association helped to make the 2023 Violin Teacher Training Course in Istanbul affordable for the trainees. The course, directed by Wilfried van Gop, concluded with exams in February 2024. Ten Level 1 and four Level 3 candidates passed. A further grant was made to the Association for a new 2024 course directed by Christophe Bossuat, also in Istanbul. New course in Hungary After several years with no functioning Suzuki Association in Hungary, a new national Suzuki association has been formed by qualified Suzuki teachers in Hungary and admitted to membership of ESA. The new association has insufficient means to support a training course and has therefore applied for and received a grant to support a new Violoncello Course to be directed by Annette Costanzi, who has longterm connections to the Hungarian teachers. More information about the Trust Since becoming a registered Charity in 2002, the Trust has supported many large and small Teacher Training projects. Our overhead costs remain minimal with Trustees covering their own expenses. With the continued help from the European Suzuki Community and, especially the commitment from Teacher Trainers, we are confident that we are in a good position to continue the work of developing the Suzuki approach to Music Education. Thanks to the major legacy received from Jean Middlemiss the Trust has substantial funds. However, with current outgoings and lower donation income than in previous years, it has become necessary to set deficit budgets, which are beginning to deplete the Trust’s assets. The Trust would therefore be more than ever grateful for further donations in 2024 and 2025. Credit Card donations can be made via the donate button on the STT website, which also has further details about Direct Bank transfers: Further information from Haukur F Hannesson, Executive Trustee on suzukiteachingtrust@gmail.com
